A patient advocacy group is warning of the lack of specialist staff at a local hospital is very concerning.
The Neurological Alliance of Ireland revealed today that there is currently just three neurological nurses at Sligo University Hospital which falls short of the recommended seven.
It comes following the launch of their new campaign today which calls on the Government to recruit an additional four neurological nurse specialists at the hospital.
Mags Rogers from the NAI believes long waiting lists at the facility is resulting in a delay of diagnoses and treatment at the main hospital for the north-west.
She believes all patients should receive the same quality of care no matter where they live in the country.
