The 2024 National Inpatient Experience Survey asked patients to rate their overall hospital experience on a scale from 0 to 10.

Local hospitals have scored highly in a national patient experience survey.

The 2024 National Inpatient Experience Survey asked patients to rate their overall hospital experience on a scale from 0 to 10.

Over 12,000 people responded to the National Inpatient Experience Survey, with almost one-fifth reporting they had been unable to find staff to discuss their worries.

A total of 84 per cent of patients described their time in hospital as a positive experience according to the study.

Roscommon University Hospital saw the highest overall rating in the region at 9.4 out of 10.

When it comes to care on wards, general treatments and discharges, patients rated the hospital between 7.8 and 8.7 out of 10.

Midland Regional Hospital Mullingar saw the next highest overall score with 8.6 out of ten followed by Sligo University Hospital at 8.5.

Mullingar hospital saw their care and treatment scores at 8.1, while in Sligo the same areas were given a grade of 8.3.

Patients at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe awarded the facility an 8.3 out of ten with their care and treatment given a 7.9 out of 10.]
