270 childcare workers in Longford will be affected by pay talks being held in Dublin today.
The Services, Industrial, Professional and Technical Union will be advocating for higher wages for 26,000 Early Years professionals.
According to Deborah Reynolds, who is the SIPTU Organiser for Longford and Roscommon, the low pay epidemic in the sector has caused a major staffing crisis, with 60% of childcare services reporting difficulties with recruitment.
The meeting of the Early Years Joint Labour Committee will vote on a rate of €13.65 for Early Years Educators.
The pay talks will take place today in Lansdowne House, Dublin.
