Longford County Council has voted in a new Cathaoirleach at its Annual General Meeting today.
Councillor Peggy Nolan has taken the position for the third time during her 20 year political career.
The Fine Gael Councillor was nominated for the position during the local authorities AGM by fellow Fine Gael representative Colm Murray.
Councillor Nolan has now taken the place of her party colleague Paul Ross who held the position of Cathaoirleach over the last year.
This afternoon's meeting also saw the election of Padraic Brady as Leas- Cathaoirleach for the county over the next year.
