People living with long-term health conditions in Roscommon, Mayo and Galway are being advised of a special six week programme to help them manage their illness.
The Living Well programme runs for a total of six weeks and is free.
The course which is being run online presently aims to help people develop the skills and confidence to self-manage a long-term health condition.
The sessions run once a week for two and a half hours, and focus on things like distraction techniques to help with pain, how to get a good night's sleep, healthy eating, managing medication and exercise.
Fiona Cunnane, who's the Living Well programme co-ordinator, says people can feel very isolated or worried when they have a long-term condition and there are very real psychological benefits from taking part in the six week project.
"One of the positive things about taking part in this programme is that it is a group programme and we allow plenty of time and space for people to talk with each other and share as much as they want to. Some people prefer to keep things to themselves, and that's fine too, but it's very therapeutic to be in a room with people who know exactly what's it's like and even though everyone on the programme has a different health condition, it's amazing how many similarities people will find that they share, you know, the same kind of issues coming up".
