A popular local secondary school has received planning permission for a significant new extension.
Elphin Community College in Roscommon had applied for the demolition of an existing single storey dwelling on site and its replacement with a new build.
The plans include the construction of a new modular classroom comprising of 2 classrooms and an accessible toilet on the site of the demolished house.

The application also includes new paths, retaining walls and connections to existing services.
The plans were approved with 11 conditions attached including a ruling that the classrooms will not be occupied until the existing entrance to the site is closed in the interest of public safety.
