Bank of Ireland have been granted planning permission to remove the stone steps at the front of its branch on Main Street, Boyle.
Roscommon County Council has given the green light to the bank to change the front of the protected structure subject to seven conditions.
The development will see the steps replaced with a more accessible entrance, including works to to extend the existing door frame and new internal steps from the lobby to the banking hall.
One condition of the planning is that the stone steps of the building are to retained in secure storage for any future reinstatement.
