Planning permission is being sought for the construction of a 500 seat outdoor amphitheatre in Longford.
Longford County Council is seeking permission from the Higher Planning Authority to construct the theatre at a former Council Depot in Lanesborough.
The development at the Commons North Lime Quarry would consist of permanent tiered seating for 500 people, a stage with a steel support structure and a canvas canopy.
Also included in the plans is two 20 foot steel containers, one to be used as a temporary bar and another to be used for storage.
Car parking is also set to be provided in the existing public car park adjacent to Lanesborough Bridge, from which existing pedestrian footpaths would access the venue site.
It is proposed that the venue will operate on Friday and Saturday evenings for the months of June, July and August, for live music performances.
An Bord Pleanála will decide on the application in the coming months.
