A post-mortem examination is due to take place on the body of a man in his 60s, that was discovered at a house in County Westmeath yesterday evening.
A so-called 'person of interest' is now being questioned in relation to the man’s death.
The man’s remains were removed from the house located here in Rattin, just a few kilometres away from Miltownpass, at around midday. The Garda Technical Bureau are still carrying out a forensic exam at the site.
His remains are being taken to hospital, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out by the State Pathologist. It’s understood a person of interest has been identified and is partaking in Garda inquiries.
The death is believed to be suspicious, however, Gardaí are still treating it as an ‘unexplained death’ and are following a definite line of inquiry. They say the results of the post-mortem will determine the course of their investigation.
