The story of the destruction and rebuilding of St Mel's Cathedral in Longford is the subject of a new photographic exhibition.
On Christmas morning 2009, St Mel's Cathedral was all but destroyed in a fire that began shortly after midnight mass.
Sparked by an electrical fault in a boiler, the fire left only the shell of the historic Longford building.
The next five years saw a major construction project headed by GEM Group and Purcell Construction, with the cathedral reopening the week before Christmas 2014.
The reconstruction was documented by well known Longford man Tiernan Dolan, who's pictures are now featured in an exhibition in the foyer of the Cathedral.
The retired teacher and former GOAL aid worker will launch the exhibition at the Cathedral this afternoon at 4 o'clock:
