A pile of construction rubble was dumped at a bog in Roscommon just days after a major clean-up by the County Council. The waste was discovered at the Corlis bog just outside Castlerea last weekend, an area where illegal dumping is an ongoing problem.
It came after Roscommon County Council staff cleared the beauty spot of rubbish which had been dumped previously. Fianna Fáil councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice has expressed his disgust and disappointment with the latest incident:
