A planning application for a 30 metre high telecommunications tower in Keshcarrigan has been refused by Leitrim County Planners.
The plans submitted by Vantage Tower Limited had called for the 30 metre structure that would support antennae, dishes and associated telecommunications equipment.
The development would have been surrounded by security fencing and accessed by an existing track.
Locals in the Keshcarrigan area registered their opposition to the plans over concerns that the mast would affect the visual amenity of the local area, that it was too close to Keshcarrigan village and that electro-magnetic energy from the development could prove harmful.
Planners refused Vantage Tower's application earlier this week.
