Planning permission has been granted for the construction of a 24 metre high communications mast in Lisryan county Longford.
Eircom Limited have applied for the construction of the structure at Coolamber near the village.
Plans include the 24 metre structure with associated antennae, communication dishes and ground equipment.
It's planned for the mast to form part of the national Eircom Ltd telecommunications and broadband network.
The development has been opposed by some local residents who have raised concerns over DNA damage and increased risk of cancer due to emissions from the mast, claims which are disputed by the World Health Organisation.
The plans have been granted with 8 conditions attached, including one ordering the protection of all mature trees on sight, with any damaged to be replaced in the next planting season.
