The HSE has been given the go-ahead to construct a new two-storey outpatients building at Mullingar Hospital.
Planning permission was applied for in February of this year for the 1,741 square metre development at the hospital, with the council seeking further information in April.
The development will consist of the outpatient building along with an adjacent free-standing plant room.
The building itself will feature medical consulting rooms, admin offices, storerooms, toilets and staff facilities.
It's also planned that solar panels will be installed on the facility's roof, while new landscaping and site works are also set to take place on location.
County planners approved the application with 13 conditions attached.
These include a requirement for a Natura Impact Statement and a developer contribution of over €40,000.
