Plans have been approved in Roscommon for the construction of two temporary 100 metre meteorological masts.
Energia Renewables Ireland Limited applied to County Planners for the developments at the Skeavally and Cronin Townlands in Roscommon.
The plans each include a 100 metre guy-wired latticed mast with associated foundations and services.
The plans were met with criticism locally, with several submissions received by Roscommon County Council across the process calling for the refusal of the plans.
The concerns highlighted included detrimental effects to the local visual amenity and environmental worries among others.
Roscommon County Planners greenlit the applications with 10 conditions attached at the Skeavalley site and 9 at the Cronin Townland location.
These include that the planning permission is granted for just 2 years from the final decision and that the Irish Aviation Authority be informed of the development and a suitable anti-collision beacon installed on the infrastructure.
