An Bord Pleanála has upheld a grant of permission from Leitrim County Council for 35 new homes in Ballinamore.
Plans lodged by Remcoll 2 Limited sought the construction of 35 houses at Cannaboe, Ballinamore.
The development would consist of 8 two-bedroom apartments, 2 two-bedroom houses and 15 three-bedroom houses, in the form of 3 two-storey terraced blocks.
The application received dozens of submissions from locals highlighting claims that there is no market for the properties in the area and the development would require a doubling of the local population to see the units filled.
An appeal made to the higher planning body by Ciaran Smyth, Bernadette Hamill and Damien Hamill was unsuccessful. An Bord Pleanála has greenlit the plan with 21 conditions attached.
They include provisions calling for the archaeological survey of the area and the completion of a parking management plan.
