A decision from An Bord Pleanála on the development and extension of a Ballymahon Dental Surgery is said to be imminent.
Well known dentists Francis and Nim Rodrigues have been operating Excel Dental Ballymahon for over 12 years.
Longford County Council granted permission for the extension at the end of March.
However, St Matthew's Park Residents Association appealed to An Bord Pleanála that the development would result in a dangerous increase in traffic, that there was never supposed to be a right of way there for the site and that the car park may also inadvertently provide a haven for drug pushers in the area.
In a statement to Shannonside Northern Sound, the national planning authority has confirmed that the case, which was due to be decided by August 4th, is now in the final stages of the process.
The caseload of An Bord Pleanála has been impacted by Covid-19 with delays to decisions in many cases.
Repair works that are currently being carried out on the property adjacent to Ballymahon Dental Surgery are unrelated to the planning application.
