Plans have been granted for 40 new apartments in Athlone.
Yellow Island Trading Company Ltd has submitted the application for the development at Arcadia, Clonbrusk.
The plans call for three 3 storey buildings that would hold two and three bed units.
Block one would consist of eight ground floor units with private gardens and eight duplex appartments with private balconies.
Plans for block two and three seek 6 ground floor units with gardens and six duplex units serviced by balconies each.
The application was the subject of a submission of concern regarding the effect the development would have on the boundary of a neighbouring property.
Westmeath County planners granted planning permission with 8 conditions attached.
These included a insurance bond of €240,000 and a developers contribution of over €135,000.
