Planning permission has been granted for a major housing development in Co. Roscommon. The project proposes to build 86 new housing units as well as a creche in Monksland. The application was submitted by KM Contracts Limited. The dwelling mix proposed is four 1-bedroom apartments, sixteen 2-bed apartments, four 2-bed semi-detached houses, thirty-four 3-bed semi-detached and terraced houses, and twenty-eight 5-bed semi-detached and terraced houses. The creche building will be able to accommodate up to 60 children.
The demolition of 2 existing bungalows and 1 two-storey house is included in the submission. A pumping station with a new singular residential access road, car parking, landscaping and boundary detail works are also part of the project. The development was approved by Roscommon County Council subject to 44 conditions. Among the conditions stipulated by county planners is the provision of electric connections to the exterior of the houses to allow for the development of future electric vehicle charging points. The project must also comply with biodiversity enhancement measures set out in the Natura Impact Statement and Ecological Impact Assessment.
