Plans have been granted for a major housing development in Athlone.
Marina Quarter Ltd had submitted the application to Westmeath County Council for the 75 unit development at Cornamaddy.
The application includes permission for 51 two storey semi detached and terraced houses consisting of 47 three bed houses and 4 two bed units.
Plans for 24 three storey apartment/duplex units, including 12 two bed apartments and 12 three bed duplexes are also included in the application.
Designs for the site include associated private gardens and East/West facing terraces, while the provision of a residential open space and public open space is part of the application.
It's planned that the development will form part of a larger future phase of the development.
Westmeath County planners approved the permission with 24 conditions attached.
These include that 10 percent of all parking spaces be provided with electric vehicle charge points, while another calls for insurance bond of 450,000 and payments of just over €500,000 to the planning authority.
