Planning permission has been granted for the construction of a new all weather sporting pitch at a popular Carrick on Shannon National School. Scoil Mhuire based in Carrick on Shannon had applied for the all weather sporting area behind the existing primary school in Summerhill. Planning has been granted by Leitrim County Council with five conditions attached.
The school is set to welcome close to 500 students back on their two campuses next week, with further plans in place for a new school building. It's hoped that once a site is formally identified, the design, planning and delivery process for the new building will be fast tracked by the Department of Education.
