Planning permission has been granted for the construction of apartments in Athlone's town centre.
Thomas Hannon had applied for the demolition of an existing shop, warehousing and shed at Canal Banks in the Town.
Plans called for the construction of 8 apartments on the site consisting of 3 one bed units and 5 two bed units.
Also included in the application is ancillary bin and bicycle storage, carparking and landscaping.
Planning was approved by Westmeath County Council with 16 conditions attached.
One includes the developer pay an insurance bond of €48,000.
