Locals in a Roscommon village are hopeful that the creation of a new community playground will bring new life to the area. Planning permission has been granted for the new community area and playground in Croghan.
In a letter to county planners, the applicants, Croghan Community Projects Group, say the amenity will have numerous benefits for the area. They've envisioned it as a place to encourage physical activity, strengthen social skills and strengthen community ties. Local Cllr Valerie Byrne says she's delighted for the local area:
