Planning permission has been granted for a significant new student housing development in Athlone. The plans will see PF & 4Ds Ltd carry out the demolition of the Genesis Nightclub on the Dublin Road, Bunnavally and the partial demolition of the adjoining public house. The development includes the construction of a new student housing scheme consisting of 26 apartments across five 2 to 3-storey apartment blocks.
It will also feature 91 student units within the apartments, with the construction of internal and external alterations to the existing public house. The application was granted planning permission with 18 conditions attached. One of the conditions set out is that prior to the commencement of the development, the Developer shall lodge a cash deposit or a bond of an Insurance Company of €156,000 to Westmeath County Council.
