Planning permission has been granted for the creation of a pet crematorium in Longford despite a number of local objections. Brenda McNamee has applied for permission to construct the development at Barneygole near Edgeworthstown. The plans include the one story pet crematorium, a waste water treatment system and permission for a new vehicular entry to the site.
The application was the subject a number of objections highlighting local concerns over emissions and air quality. The plans were approved with 12 conditions attached. These include rulings that the development shall be used for the cremation of small domestic pets only and that a maximum of seven pets can be processed in any one day.
