Planning permission has been granted for a controversial waste transfer station permit in Ballinasloe.
The proposed facility had been strongly resisted by people in the region with locals forming the Ballinasloe Says No campaign in response to the development.
Bruscar Bhearna Teoranta had been seeking permission to operate the facility in the Poolboy area for several years, with a previous permission overturned in the High Court.
Almost 700 submissions were made over the project with Galway County Council confirming his morning that they had granted permission for the facility to operate.
It's understood that the planning has been granted subject to a number of conditions which are due to made available later today.
