Plans have been submitted to Longford County Council for the expansion of the ISPCA's Longford Headquarters.
The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals operates the facility at Derryglogher near Keenagh. The Centre, which opened in 2002, is situated on 88 acres in rural Longford. The facility is designed to provide veterinary care and rehabilitation to animals that have been subjected to cruelty or neglect. The ISPCA are seeking to construct 2 detached Kennelling structures on site which would include 20 kennels each.
Also included in the planning application for the structures is two treatment rooms, a laundry room, kitchen and two storage rooms.
County planners will decide on the issue in February.
