Planning permission has been lodged for a major new tourist attraction in south Longford.
The owner of Newcastle House, Hong Kong businessman Hau Yan Lee, has lodged an application to develop a holiday park with 99 static mobile homes as well as an area for 'touring pitches' and casual camping spaces
The application follows an announcement last July that the owner of the historic property adjacent to Center Parcs was hoping to develop a multi million euro holiday park that could employ several hundred people.
According to the application lodged with Longford County Council and which is in pre-validation, a reception hut will also be developed beside the existing entrance, and the plans include a proposal to build a playground and separate grass play area.
Submissions can be made up until the 11th of May, with a decision due by early June.
