Planning permission has been lodged for the construction of significant accessibility works at Boyle Train Station.
Iarnród Éireann Infrastructure is seeking to build a mobility impaired access structure at the station in the town.
Mobility Impaired Access Structure or MIAS is a hybrid assembly of different concrete and steel elements to enable better access for those with mobility difficulties.
The application includes a pair of staircases, free standing lift shafts, support portals and a walkway.
Associated works include car park improvements, compliant seating, standing rest bars and shelters on both train platforms.
Other enabling works will also see tactile signage including Braille information on wall and/or handrails and installation of help points.
County planners will decide on the issue in March.
