Permission is being sought from Longford County Planners for modifications to plans for a major proposed tourism attraction in the county.
Blacksmith Ventures LTD trading as Lough Ree Distillery had received permission in 2016 for the construction of a distillery and visitor centre at The Old Post Office in Lanesboro
The original plan sought the combination of two existing 3 storey buildings into one, featuring a tasting area, exhibition and interpretative space, and retail area selling alcohol.
Also included was the demolition of outbuildings to be replaced with linked single storey structures containing a mezzanine distillery to accommodate various milling, mashing, fermentation and distillation equipment as well as a high level visitor walk way.
The company are now seeking to alter the permission under a new application to Longford County Council.
New plans are set to increase the size of the overall site as well as increasing the overall gross internal floor area of the development.
According to the new application, the developers are also seeking a number of alterations to the inside of the proposed distillery and visitor building including the addition of another storage room, floor space and the relocation of the gas storage compound.
Planners will decide on the issue in February.
