Planning permission has been granted for thirty-five new homes in Ballinamore.
Remcoll 2 Limited, the company that owns Rock Quarter, lodged the application for permission with Leitrim County Council in December of last year.
Remcoll 2 Ltd owns the contentious Rock Quarter development which is currently housing asylum seekers and was the subject of protests and much controversy late last year.
The company now has conditional permission to go ahead with the building of 18 two-bedroom apartments, 2 two-bedroom houses and 15 three-bedroom houses in three two-storey terraced blocks at Cannaboe, Ballinamore, Co Leitrim across the road from Rock Quarter.
The decision follows the receipt of further information on the application at the end of July.
Over 50 submissions were made on the original application with many referring to concerns over a lack of demand for housing in the town.
Anyone who lodged a submission during the planning process now has four weeks from August 25th to appeal this decision to An Bord Pleanála if they wish.
