A large housing construction project in Co. Roscommon has been rejected by county planners. The submission comprised of the construction of 44 two and three-storey houses and apartments in the Monksland area. County planners noted that there was insufficient private and public open space for some of the proposed housing units, as well as a lack of connectivity between the dwellings.
The project was also refused as it had not presented Flood Risk Assessment and Ecology Assessment reports. Issues in the design of the houses were also identified, as the proposed layouts would hinder sustainable urban placemaking outcomes such as adequate street connectivity and permeability.
