Planning permission has been approved for the extension of the current North West Hospice facility in Sligo.
The new build will comprise of an extension to the current 12-bed unit as well as outpatient facilities.
The existing in-Patient Unit will also be refurbished to house the Palliative Care teams.
An increase in demand for services over the last few years means that there simply are not enough beds, particularly over the winter months.
It's understood the project is now out to tender for a construction partner and it's hoped that the sod will be turned in 2023.
Northwest Hospice Communications Manager Bernadette McGarvey has been speaking to Tommy Stenson.
