The submission proposes to convert the Keshcarrigan Garda Barracks and site to Community Resource Use, which will incorporate a museum and working hub.

Planning permission has been granted for the change of use of a former Garda barracks in Leitrim. The application was submitted by the Keshcarrigan Development Association in July.

The submission proposes to convert the Keshcarrigan Garda Barracks and site to Community Resource Use, which will incorporate a museum and working hub. The works involved in the restoration of the existing barracks include changes to the internal layout, installation of a new lift to the first floor, a new accessible entrance, new kitchen, toilets and plant room.

Provision of new accessible external ramps to the front and rear of the building, as well as new car parking, are also proposed in the application. Chairperson of the Keshcarrigan Development Association, Paddy McGreevy, explained that the new working hub will be of huge benefit to everyone across the county:
