The Closure of the Granard branch of Bank of Ireland will not damage plans for future development in the Town.
That's according to the Chairperson of Granard Credit Union following their application for planning permission for a 24 hour ATM at their branch in the town.
The North Longford BOI branch was one of 88 across the country to close for the last time on Friday, leaving locals concerned over their access to cash outside of business hours.
Elsewhere in the Shannonside region customers in Elphin, Strokestown, Granard, Manorhamilton and Ballygar are also now without local branches.
Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound, Kieran Rogers from Granard Credit Union says the future remains bright for the town despite the recent setback.
