Roscommon county council have refused planning permission for a major energy development.
An application, lodged at the end of November for construction of two Enercon E138 wind turbines at Derrane and Roxboro.
Turbine 1 would have a blade tip height of 168m and Turbine 2, a blade tip height of 150m.
Also included in the application is the construction of additional cabling to a proposed modular switchroom and ESB substation.
However, the development was subject to a number of submissions from local residents, with some stating the negative effect the turbines would have on local wildlife. Roscommon county council refused permission on three conditions.
