Further planning permission is being sought for a former army barracks in the Shannonside Region.
The Longford and Westmeath Education and Training Board are seeking permission to extend their facilities at Connolly Barracks on the Battery Road in Longford Town.
The Barracks was vacated by the 4th Cavalry Squadron in 2009, when the site was closed.
The prominent facility lies at the top of Longford Town, with the LWETB previously expanding their operations onto the site.
Plans consist of the change of use of the former Defense Forces Gymnasium to educational use and the conversion of the former ration store for the barracks into a canteen and welfare facility.
The works planned for the ration store include extensions to the west to include a new entrance lobby and welfare toilets.
The application also contains plans for a glazed link extension to the canteen and welfare facility.
Longford County Planners are to decide on the issue in the New Year.
