Longford County Council's refusal of a telecom tower in North Longford has been appealed to the higher planning authority. Towercom Limited were seeking the go ahead for the 21 metre high mast at the Eir Exchange on Barrack Lane in Granard. The plans include antennae, dishes and associated telecommunications equipment.
A submission on behalf of Cellnex Ireland Limited against the project, stated that demand for antennae space can be facilitated at their existing mast and alternative infrastructure is not needed. Longford County Council subsequently refused the application under two conditions. Towercom Limited have now appealed this refusal to An Bord Pleanála with a decision due in the new year.
