Permission is being sought for the creation of a significant solar energy farm in Roscommon.
The development would include a total site area of 77.76 hectares in the townlands of Cuilmore and Cloonrollagh, Athlone.
A 35 year operational lifespan is contained in the plans, with a single story electrical substation building, inverter substations and CCTV security systems also included.
The solar collection panels themselves will be installed on ground mounted support structures on site.
The application has been lodged with Roscommon County Council by Renewable Energy Systems Ltd
County planners are due to make a decision on the proposed solar farm in in January next year.
