Planning permission is being sought for a major housing development outside of Longford Town. Wincove Land Limited is seeking permission to construct 80 homes at Aghadegnan at the top of the Battery Road in the town. The application contains the plans for 80 homes including 62 three bed terraced homes and 18 three bed semi detached units on the site near the N4 Axis Business Park. The plans also include the building of a two storey childcare facility on site and the creation of a play area, set down area and 11 car parking spaces, along with solar panels on the roof.
Access to the new development would be at the north the site, into Druid's Glen and onto the Battery Road. The plans call for a network of internal roads and footpaths along with 12 covered bike spaces. The application has been the subject of a number of concerns from neighbouring housing estates over the effect the new homes would have on existing properties. Longford County planners are due to make their decision in the coming months.
