Planning permission is being sought in Roscommon for a massive upgrade of a popular local GAA Club. St. Dominic's GAA Club has applied to Roscommon County Council for the substantial works at their ground at Gailey, Knockcroghery. St Dominic's GAA Club was formed in 1973 with the amalgamation of St. Joseph's and St. Patrick's GAA clubs, and covers a wide area in and around South Roscommon. The application submitted to county planners calls for a new flood lit training pitch with goals, a digital score board and perimeter fencing.
Also planned for the ground is a new tiered spectator stand for the proposed training pitch and new flood lights for the club's main pitch. Club management have included the provision of a new Astro pitch along with an athletics running track , long jump and high jump areas. The substantial upgrade of the club grounds would also see a new biodiversity and sensory garden, a pedestrian walkway around the ground and new car parking areas. County planners will decide on the application in November.
