Planning permission is being sought to change a popular former food store in Carrick on Shannon into guest accommodation. Kelly's Foodstore was one of Leitrim's longest serving businesses before it closed its doors earlier this year. It had served the public on the Dublin Road in Carrick on Shannon for 36 years and was run by Martin and Teresa Kelly. The shop was sold in June with the new owners now applying for planning permission.
The application has been submitted by Taustop Limited and is seeking to change the use of the building from retail to guest accommodation. The plans include the construction of a first floor extension and the demolition of a rear annex. Leitrim County Planners will decide on the application in February of next year.
