Plans have been lodged seeking permission for rock blasting and the creation of a concrete plant in Longford. Blessington Stone & Concrete Plant Hire Limited trading as Rhyne Rock are seeking planning permission for the works at Rhine, Killoe in Longford. Plans include permission to extract rock by blasting across an area of 14 hectares.
The application also includes the erection of a concrete batching plant, processing plant, block yard, storage sheds, workshop and office buildings on site. Landscaping and an entrance/access road from the public road to the manufacturing area. The permission is requested for 25 years and includes restoration of the site once blasting is complete. The case will be decided on by Longford County Council in September.
