Plans have been approved for a change of use of the former Bank of Ireland building in Granard.Eoin & Natanya McGovern plan to turn the now vacant bank into a mixed use development consisting of office space and 7 apartments.The bank was one of 88 branches nationwide closed by the company in 2021, leaving the North Longford Town without a full time bank.
The successful application seeks the construction of 2 basement level apartments, 2 studio apartments and office space on ground floor level, a studio apartment and further office space on the first floor and another one bed apartment on the second floor.Full planning permission has also been granted for the proposed renovations & extensions to two existing outhouses to create a further two studio apartments.
County planners approved the application with 12 conditions attached.
