Permission for the construction of 41 houses in Carrick on Shannon has been appealed to the national planning body.

Planning permission had been secured by KDM Construction Limited for the development of 41 houses at Priors Point, Carrick on Shannon, Co. Leitrim.

The project includes a mixture of detached and semi-detached 2, 3, 4 and 5 bed houses with access through the existing Prior's Point Development.

An appeal has been lodged with An Bord Pleanala by Priors Point Residents Association.

The group had highlighted several issues they were concerned over during the original planning process including housing density, traffic concerns and the risk of the new construction being an unfinished or ghost estate.

The planning body is due to decide on the appeal in September.
