Plans for a new hotel in Carrick on Shannon have gotten the go ahead. JH Atlantic Hospitality Limited trading as the Red Bank Restaurant at St George's Terrace in the Town had sought permission for the change of use of their first floor from restaurant use to hotel accommodation. The plans submitted by the popular Leitrim restaurant call for the construction of a three-storey extension to provide nine 'luxurious' bedrooms over three levels along with three additional bedrooms on the existing first floor. The application also includes a new thermal suite at first floor level, an extended restaurant at upper ground floor level and a lobby at lower ground floor level.
The plans had been previously welcomed by Carrick-on-Shannon Chamber of Commerce as good news for the town. It was also the subject of an objection which stated the development would cause privacy, noise and parking issues. The application was granted by Leitrim Planner's with 22 conditions attached.
