A renewable energy company has signalled plans for a new wind turbine development in North West Roscommon.
Statkraft Ireland are seeking to construct 12 wind turbines outside of Ballaghaderreen in the county.
The company have lodged a pre-application consultation with An Board Pleanála as the development could be considered strategic infrastructure due to its size and energy generation potential.
The turbines would be located 2 kilometres north of the town itself, just west of Monaseraden village.
Due the to nature of the project, the applicant is able to bypass Roscommon County Council and submit to the higher planning authority.
