Plans have been lodged for a major new Solar Farm on the Galway Roscommon border.
Elgin Energy Services Ltd is seeking to develop the array near Creggs in East County Galway.
Plans include the installation of the farm on a 107 hectare site, including ground mounted photovoltaic panels, 18 no. inverter station, ducting and underground cabling and new internal access tracks. Also included in the design are storage containers, perimeter fencing and pole mounted CCTV cameras.
According to the application, the development could generate 75 mega watts of electricity and would operate over a 40 year lifespan. Galway County Planners will decide on the permission in June.
