Plans have been lodged in Roscommon for the construction of two 85 metre wind turbines and associated equipment at Derrane & Roxborough.
Greaghcrotta Derm Energy Ltd is behind the application that would see two number 2.3 megawatt wind turbines with a total height of 126 metres including rotors at the site.
The development would also include new internal site tracts, the upgrading of existing site tracks, turbine hardstands, a control substation and cabling work.
The proposed site had been earmarked for a small windfarm previously with a ten year planning permission granted in 2011.
However, the development did not proceed and in April 2018, the applicant at the time, Peter Gillooly, applied to have the turbines increased in size.
The application was the subject of a local campaign in opposition to the construction, with Roscommon County Council refusing that application in 2019.
County planners received a new application from Greaghcrotta Derm Energy Ltd for the site in the last two weeks with decision due on the new development in April.
