Plans for a number of new pedestrian crossing points in Castlerea have been published.
They will be located at Church Hill close to St Paul's National School in the town.
The proposed plan also includes safety upgrades and four crossing points which will be installed under the safe routes to school and active travel programme.
Roscommon County Council and the National Transport Authority have now put the designs forward and it's hoped works will begin before the Summer.
Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound Councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice says the project is a major safety boost for the local school and he'd like to see them rolled out in many other areas.
